A car that gets 230 miles per gallon? Cool! The vision of Steve Fambro, who wanted to create a car that was safe, comfortable, and more fuel-efficient than anything ever produced, the Aptera (from Greek for ‘flight without wings’) draws much of its design from aircraft and aerodynamics. it seats two, has three wheels, and its first operating protype achieved an amazing 230 miles per gallon.
Charge it for eight hours and you’ll get about 30 miles of driving, which is more than the average driver does in a day, plus you can drive it in the car pool lane, and park it in a motorcycle space between two cars. With gas hitting record highs every day and its consumption contributing so heavily to global warming, surely the nmg is a no-brainer?
The word ‘puyo’ is Japanese onomatopoeia for the sensation of touching the vehicle’s soft body.
By getting rid of traditional mechanical linkages like shafts and hydraulic cylinders and using drive by wire electrical technology instead, it’s infinitely more flexible than most cars we’re
Rather than finding a different fuel source, or building a smaller car, procháczka ingeniously reduces the weight of the car by using an electric engine with magnets the same polarity as the roads. the resulting upward force lightens the vehicle’s weight by 50%. another innovative touch is the desing of the seats: two outer layers, pile yarn, and a soft construction foam make it possible to adjust the final hardness and spring characteristics of the seat. this lightweight, adaptable seating not only cuts down on waste during construction and the overall weight of the vehicle while being driven, it also sounds pretty darn comfy.
75% of the total power needed to drive the vehicle will come from the photovoltaic solar generator on the roof, while the remaining 25% will be provided by the driver’s own pedal power.
These include the Aquada from the British company Gibbs Technologies, capable of 160 kilometres per hour (100 mph) on land and 55 kilometres per hour (30 mph) in water. A car insurance quote on an Aquada these would be very interesting!
Here is a video of the Aquada in action

Yes, the lucky Italian cops have a Lamborghini Gallardo at their disposal, a genuine police car used by the Italian Carabinieri to patrol the Salerno-Reggio Calabria highway outside Rome. Prime hunting ground indeed, because its 5.0-litre V10 will grant it 193mph flat out and a tarmac-ruining 0-60mph time of around four seconds. But it isn’t just a patrol car for chasing wrung-out Fiats, Alfa Romeos and the occasional Ferrari.
The Police-liveried Gallardo also doubles as a super-fast response car, with the ability to be the first on the scene of a serious accident. It carries life saving medical equipment such as a defibrillator to revive car crash victims, and is used as a high-speed shuttle to transport organs between hospitals. Best of all is that with four-wheel-drive sending all 500 horses into the road, the Gallardo patrol car can be used all year round in all weathers.
For its day, the car was seriously quick, with a 240bhp engine that could sling-shot it speedily round the tight Roman streets. As you’d expect, no car of the day stood a chance, especially as the GTE shared its roots with the 250 GTO, one of Ferrari’s finest supercars and racers. The 250 GTE was also the first mass-produced four-seat Ferrari, so there was actually a bit of space to stick any arrestees. But it looked so damn cool you’d probably want to commit some crime just to see it in action. These days it's as rare as a straight politician but the actual car used still survives in a museum of police cars in Rome.
And you really don’t want to mess with it. The 3.8-litre engine has been tuned by TechArt to give 367bhp – that’s enough to get it to 60mph in 4.7 seconds and on to a 186mph max – or in other words, unless you’re in a supercar and you’re slightly unhinged, you don’t stand a chance. Nice work if you can get it…

Finally, obviously not real this picture but the Bugatti Veyron would be worth joining the police for!
